all brunette, but two; and all redheads, but two.” How many daughters
does he have?
Answer: Three daughters – one blonde, one brunette
and one redhead. Each statement leaves two out.

What can fill a room but takes up no space?
Answer: Light. It fills a room without occupying
physical space.

They come at night without being called and are lost in the day
without being stolen. What are they?
Answer: Stars. You see them at night, and they
disappear when the sun rises.

A girl has as many brothers as sisters, but each brother has only
half as many brothers as sisters. How many brothers and sisters are
there in the family?
Answer: Four sisters and three brothers. Each girl
has three sisters and three brothers, while each boy has four sisters
and two brothers (half as many).

What English word retains its pronunciation, even after you take away
four of its five letters?
Answer: Queue. Remove the last four letters and you
still pronounce it “Q.”
